Day Three: Romantics with a Capital R

So, it is Throwback Thursday. Most would expect a discussion on a throwback video game title, and that is what j will typically do. Throwback games will typically include anything previous to the current two generations, ie nothing that has games made for it currently, but today will be a little different.

I mentioned the Romantics in an earlier past and decided, what v is more of a throwback than the 18th century? The Romantics were. The introduction I needed to get into poetry. My father taught us about them in high school, as he was the English teacher at school, but he also gave me his textbook from college on the Romantics. I was hooked. Soon, my markings mixed with his on the pages as I was enraptured.  The form, the meter, often rhyme! I was, simply put, obsessed.

Famously, the Romantics wrote about nature and the natural world, not just romance. Notice the lower case r there? They resisted industrialization and destruction of the natural world. While they typically kept to strict forms and meter, they had humor, and they could evoke emotions I hope I will one day as others read my works (just read Adonais by Shelley).

So as my lunch comes to a close, feel free to ask me questions
