Pullip Sunday

Today I am going to talk about my new dollies, Kazu and Kiyomi (sometimes I forget the first i so forgive me in advance).

Here they are, sleeping peacefully at GameStop. (Yes, I take them with me to work on occassion. It's hard to leave them alone. They are too adorable).

Basically, I have been obsessed with ball jointed dolls since college. I have loved looking at pictures of dollies, clothing, doll houses, and more. I never thought I could ever save up enough money to get one, but I did. I saved up enough for two! Of course, these are not the highly expensive, handmade, hand painted, resin dolls you often expect to see. However, they are more affordable, come with a face up, and wonderfully crafted clothing, and they have that manga style that I love. The wigs are of nice quality, and the eyes open, close, and even look around! (some say creepy, but it allows for better photo shoots).

I bought my dollies from Amazon, but pullipstyle.com is the best site for all things Pullip. They have a forum, tons of dolls to choose from, and even Make it Own kits to build your own Pullip dolls. I also like the site PullipsandJunk for information on Pullip history and more.

Technically, only my female dolly is a Pullip. Pullip is the name of the model of doll. She is the main dolly, has a boyfriend, a brother, a sister, an ex, and even a child. Then the different models get different makeovers. These are the Retro Memory version of Pullip and Isul (her brother) named Nella and Johan. PullipsandJunk has a whole bunch of info on their clothing from the Lolita Bible and a in depth review. I didn't take as many pictures of opening my dollies, not thinking. 

Review wise, they are more than worth the money. Their clothing is wonderful (Nella/Kiyomi did have a few stray strings hanging off her dress). The extra items like bags, spy glasses, hats, capes, etc were all good quality and cute. I do have a problem with Kiyomi's shoes always falling off. I'm not sure if this is a common problem, or if my shoes are simply loose. Their paint is great. Their eyes work well. Kazu's hair is a little messed up, but that's from his box being broken on arrival (thanks, Amazon). He is also a bit creaky when I bend him, unlike his sister. I'm hoping he will loosen up a bit.

Kazu is so cute! I thought I would prefer the girl dollies,but I love him so much. (he's staring into my soul!)

I think I will save up for more Pullip dollies. I was thinking of getting a nice resin doll next, but I am in love with these Pullips. Since they are so affordable, I might stick with them next. Plus, they are soooooo cute!!! I love them, love them, love them.

I am likely going to take at least one of them with me to the next anime convention. (which I forgot to blog about) And I am hoping to go to a ball jointed doll event. Saint Louis has a pretty active community. (Their convention site is here: http://www.stlbjdcon.com/) Maybe I will see you there!

Sleepy Saturday Lenses

So my post, finally another post, is on the 1 Day Acuvue Define lenses. They provide extra definition around the colored part of your eye to make your eye look bigger and the color more vibrant. They come in shimmer, shine, and one for light eyes that I don't remember because they didn't use them on me. I decided to try them out. Here is the result.

 I like the way they look a lot, and they are a good alternative to circle lenses. These are doctor prescribed, and since I have sensitive eyes, they are much better for me personally. They are daily lenses so they breathe well. They feel nice on my eye, and I don't notice the color around the edges at all.  My only gripe is that they seem to slide around a bit on the eye at first. Once they settle, I don't notice it, but I was annoyed for a few minutes as they started to settle.

Other than that, they seem to work alright. I have ordered some for special events like conventions. What so you guys think?

Submission Sunday and Other Ramblings

So, I did it. I actually submitted some of my poetry to different journals today.  I did quite a few different journals, and it was terrifying, but I did it.

The hardest part was probably getting all the paperwork together, hoping I had formatted everything correctly (as everyone wants it slightly differently), and of course hitting the submit button despite myself.  I spent hours in the past looking up submission guidelines, reading journals and published poets' work... I'm not actually expecting too much, but I really was glad to try.

The journals I submitted to were: Darkling, Garbanzo, the Missouri Review and Bellevue.  I personally loved my works, but I know everyone has a different opinion. Unfortunately, it could be months before I hear back from anyone...

On a happy note, I am also working on creating a religion for some fantasy books I have been working on.  It is a lot of fun but so difficult.  I also look too much into things and want to do, possibly, too much. Not only do I want a religion, but I want to write books for that religion (short ones of course), modify proverbs, and even create languages.  This may be too much for one lifetime, but I will try. Message me if you would like links to any of the sites I used for helping me with this.  I would put them in here now, but I can't remember them off the top of my head.  I did use the Pathfinder rulebooks a lot...

Anyway, time to relax before another day of work.

Another Sleepy Saturday

So.... I've been super bad lately with keeping up on this blog so I'm going to try to do better. I have good excuses but there should be no excuse. This is my dream after all.

Today, I worked on some projects I hope to post pictures of later. I played some games and slept. Then I started writing. It has been too long, and I feel everything I write is strange and a bit dark. However, it is writing so I won't complain. In hoping to have a real computer tomorrow and internet. Then I will be able to do more on this blog. Posting from the phone is hard!!!

Anyway, back to writing. I am making lists for a religion I am creating. It is probably the hardest thing I have ever done. From myths on nature to the nature of the gods... I will work hard!!! Hopefully when I am done I can share it with you all. I at least have a list of gods and the beginning of a creation myth. Then I need to rewrite all of it on the perspective of the different races. Finally give the religion it's own poets and bibles. Maybe a lofty goal but I am going to try.
